When checking the entitlement for any of the tiers, the number of Points and/or flight segments (as the case may be) accumulated to the Member’s credit is checked in accordance with the rules of the Club (as amended from time to time), during the 12 consecutive months preceding the check of entitlement. A Member’s entitlement is checked on a daily basis. A Member who is found to have met the conditions of entitlement to a particular tier will be promoted to such tier. Renewal of a specific tier, or demotion from it to another status, will be executed once a year (12 months after the date of promotion to a specific tier or after the last date of renewal of the status, with respect to the specific Member).

5.1.4 In the event of death of the Member, whether he leaves a will or otherwise. In this case, the provisions of sub-section 5.3 below shall apply.

5.2 EL AL and/or the Club will not be required to pay any compensation for termination of membership of the Club.

5.3 Upon termination of membership, all benefits and rights (including points) in the Member's possession will expire, except in cases of death in which case the points will be transferred to the deceased's survivors subject to presentation of an appropriate court order.

Accumulation of Points

6.1 The crediting of points to Member accounts will only be possible in accordance with the rules set down in these Regulations. In any event, the decision on crediting points remains with EL AL exclusively.

6.2 The following are the types of points that may be accumulated as part of Club membership:

6.2.1 Basic points – the number of points accumulated in a Member's account for every EL AL or UP  flight or through benefits given to holders of FLY CARD PREMIUM cards, as determined by EL AL, and as set down by EL AL or UP from time to time, at its exclusive discretion. These points only, as accumulated during a period of 12 consecutive months shall be used in order to determine the Member’s status and inclusion in the list for last minute upgrades as set out in section 3.9 above, with all of the implications thereof.

6.2.2 Extra points – the number of points (in addition to the basic points) accumulated in a Member’s account with respect to the Member’s status, as incentives and for special deals, etc. The number of points that may be granted as aforesaid shall be determined by EL AL from time to time at its exclusive discretion. The points shall not be taken into account when determining the member’s status as set out in section 3.9 above, with all of the implications thereof.

6.2.3 Partner points – The points accumulated on a Member’s account as a result of purchasing a product / service in partner companies, in accordance with agreements signed by EL AL with various partners, from time to time. These points shall not be taken into account when determining the member’s status as set out in section 3.9 above, with the exception of points accumulated through the FLY CARD PREMIUM card subject to relevant regulations, with all of the implications thereof. The aforesaid provisions shall be subject to section 7 below – “Accumulation of Points from Partners”.

6.3 A Member will be entitled to accumulate points on Code Share flights but will be credited with Points only if the reservation was made on an EL AL flight with the LY code, and in accordance with the conditions of the ticket. In any event, the Member will only be accredited with points in the event that the flight actually takes place.

6.4 In the event that a Member is transferred by EL AL to another airline for any reason whatsoever (for instance, due to overbooking, cancelation of a flight, etc.), points will be accumulated to the Member’s account as if the original EL AL flight had taken place. At the request of EL AL, the Member must submit the appropriate consents to EL AL in order that his Club account may be credited. Flights with foreign companies which did not take place following EL AL’s initiative as aforesaid shall not be credited with points unless EL AL and such companies have agreements for the mutual accumulation of club points (“Cooperation Agreements”). In such cases, the points accumulated will be partner points, as defined in sub-section 6.2.3 above.

6.5 Flights on EL AL or UP at the initiative of another airline (for instance due to overbooking, cancellation of a flight, etc.) shall not be credited with Points unless EL AL and such companies have agreements for the mutual accumulation of club points. In such cases, the points accumulated will be partner points, as defined in sub-section 6.2.3 above.

6.6 Notwithstanding the aforesaid, bonus ticket flights, free flights, special deal flights, charter flights on foreign airlines and reduced price flights, including free or reduced price tickets to employees or retirees of EL AL and its subsidiaries and their family members who are entitled to such, will not be credited with Points unless otherwise stated in the airline's advertisements in specific cases.

6.7 In the event of advance upgrade for Points, for money or for Points and money, last-minute reduced price upgrade or free upgrade given to a Club member at the airport for various reasons or an upgrade purchased in the aircraft, the number of points accrued will be determined by the original seating Class purchased and not by the number of points that would be awarded for the Class in which the member actually flew. In the event of downgrading for whatever reason, the point credits will be calculated in accordance with the seating Class in which the member actually flew and not according to the contents of the ticket.

6.8 Points can be accumulated on the basis of only one seat per flight even if the Member purchased more than one seat on the aircraft.

6.9 Points for a given flight will be credited to one account only for one Member only according to the flight that was taken and the Class for which the ticket was purchased.

6.10 The benefits offered in the Club, including Club points, are personal, are not convertible for money or money’s worth, and are not transferable, except in special offers conducted by EL AL and/or the Club from time to time that permit such (subject to the conditions of the offer) and/or in the event otherwise prescribed by EL AL in accordance with its exclusive discretion.

6.11 EL AL flight points not credited to an account may be updated up to one year after the actual flight, provided that the passenger was a member of the Club at the time of the flight in question.
* It is possible to update flight points at EL AL up to two months retroactively from the date of authorization of the member’s acceptance into the Club.
* The details of purchase of products or services (including flights) in partner companies shall be updated in accordance with the rules set out in section 7 below.

6.12 The Member shall be exclusively liable for checking the status of the Points, vouchers or any other benefit on his account from time to time, including the date of expiration thereof, and he shall have no claims against EL AL if he did not effect such checks. Complaints and appeals regarding the membership status report may be made to the Customer Services Desk at 03-9771111.

Partners in the Club Program

7.1 The Matmid Club has the right to establish business partnerships with companies in Israel and overseas, including airlines (hereinafter: the “Partners”), that enable all Members who purchase a product and/or service from such company to accumulate partner points. These agreements do not constitute a contract for the benefit of a third party.

7.2 Partner points will be accumulated according to the conditions established in the special agreements between the partner and the Club. The Club has the right to enter into agreements with Partners that bestow benefits on Club members residing abroad only (including in a specific country only), or to Members residing in Israel only or to Members of a specific status.

7.3 EL AL has the right to terminate the agreements with each of the Partners at any time or to alter the conditions of such agreements, and will give notice of such to the members of the Matmid Club.

7.4 The liability for providing the services and/or products of the Partners, and/or the quality of the services and/or products, as well as the awarding of Points for the services and/or products acquired by the Member, shall be borne by the Partners themselves. EL AL will award members the number of points as informed to it by the Partners.

Members will have no claim and/or demand and/or suit against EL AL pertaining to the subjects mentioned in this section.

7.5 The liability for examining the entitlement to accumulate points from shall be borne by the Member.

Similarly, Members must submit their Club membership numbers at the time of purchase of the product or service so that their accounts may be credited with partner points. For each such purchase, it will be possible to submit only one membership number for each transaction.

7.6 In the event that a Member’s account is not credited for the purchase of a partner’s product/service, or if a Member believes that his account was not credited with all of the points, he must verify such matter with the partner.

7.7 Retroactive crediting for partner points for the use of partner services/products will be extended for up to three months from receipt of the appropriate information from the partner company following the member's request to such partner company.

7.8 Points from partners will be valid for utilization for the issue of bonus tickets and upgrades but will not be taken into account for determining Members' eligibility for particular statuses except for points accumulated with the FLY CARD PREMIUM card, subject to relevant regulations, as set out in sub-section 3.9 above, with all of the implications thereof.
