Haifa’s Must-See Spots and Viewpoints

Haifa is known for its majestic views of the Mediterranean Sea. Some outlook posts are familiar, while others remain secret, known only to locals. Get ready to find Haifa in all of its scenic glory

.
If you’ve already been in Haifa, you already know its magic. But besides the common places, there are some unique spots that worth a visit, especially with Haifa’s magical view. Check it out:

1. Mané Katz Museum

If you’re out for some eye candy, why not squeeze in a museum visit as well? The museum celebrates artist Mané Katz’s paintings and sculptures, as well as a collection of Jewish religious and ceremonial artefacts.

2. Hagafen Outlook

Are you ready to get a two-way view of Haifa? The Gefen Outlook provides the best views of the Bahai Gardens (barring, of course, an up-close visit to the gardens themselves). It is a good spot to take in the Bahai Gardens that stretch above, and the German Colony below. While you’re here, visit the gardens and appreciate some truly inspiring landscaping art.

3. The Sculpture Garden

Stretch your bones and enjoy some art while you’re at the Haifa Sculpture Garden featuring works by artist Ursula Malbin. The 29 playful statues are favored by children and adults alike, and below stretch the views of the Bahai Temple and Gardens, the Haifa Port and the German Colony. It’s a great spot for a midday picnic, just make sure to save some breadcrumbs for the birds.

Address: November 2 St.

4. Dado Beach Boardwalk

What better place for sea views than the seaside itself? Situated in the southern edge of the city, Dado beach sports a well-kept boardwalk spanning two kilometers dotted with cafes and restaurants. It is a fantastic place to watch the sunset with a cold beer in hand. Incidentally, Dado is one of the most popular beaches in Haifa, in large part due to the uninterrupted maritime vista. The beach is walking distance from Hof HaCarmel train station.

5. Haifa University

Aside from being one of the top academic institutions in the country, Haifa University also offers incredible views of the bay. Head into campus and make your way up to the top of the iconic Eshkol Tower, stretching 570m above sea level for a breathtaking view of Haifa, sprawling below from the southern edges of Carmel Park to the northern ends of Rom Carmel. Farther out you will see the Upper and Lower Galilee, all the way to the Hermon Mountain. While you’re here, don’t miss the Hecht Museum and its wonderful nautical exhibit.

Address: 30 Aba Hushi Blvd.

6. Kababir

This spot encapsulates everything Haifa stands for – coexistence, mountains and sea together, and art. The Mahmood Mosque was built by the peace-loving Ahmadiyyah Muslim community in the mixed Jewish-Muslim neighborhood of Kamamir. The ground floor of the mosque hosts a permanent exhibition detailing the history and philosophy of the Ahmadiyyah Muslim community in Israel and worldwide. This lookout provides wonderful views of the lush green slopes of the Western Carmel, complemented by the endless blues of the sea.

7. Stella Mari

We saved the best for last. Stella Maris is probably the best known lookout point in all of Haifa. Its prime location atop the Carmel Mountain was first recognized by the monks of the Crusaders period, who made it their home for hundreds of years, in various constellations. This is the final stop of the Haifa cable car, and the San Francisco Lookout is just a short walk further up, offering grand views of the Carmel, the Haifa Bay, the Stella Maris lighthouse, the Krayot, Acre and – if you’re lucky – the Western Galilee and Rosh Hanikra. Set aside enough time to take in all the sites, including the church, monastery and the nearby Elijah Cave.

Address: Stella Maris Rd., Haifa

8. Bahá’í Gardens

Haifa’s flagship site, ranked as the city’s number one must-see attraction. Currently mentioned only as a viewpoint, but it deserves a dedicated paragraph describing the full experience of touring the gardens.

9. Louis Promenade

A beautiful scenic walkway on Mount Carmel, considered one of the city’s favorite spots for viewing the bay and downtown Haifa.

10. German Colony

A vibrant tourist area located beneath the Bahá’í Gardens, featuring restored Templar buildings, restaurants, and cafés. It should be added as a recommended leisure destination.

10. Wadi Nisnas

An authentic neighborhood with a local market, street art, a diverse atmosphere, and regional flavors. Ideal for those seeking the “real” Haifa
