Benefits for Gold Members

Matmid Gold members receive free membership in the Kin​​g David Club, including preferential check-in at the King David counters and admission to EL AL's lounges in Israel and worldwide; more point accrual on EL AL and UP flights and many exclusive benefits from EL AL.

Gold Matmid members living outside of Israel will enjoy the benefits of the EXECUTIVE Circle

 

Receiving Gold Tier

Matmid members who accumulate 1,500 points or 1,300 points + 25 flight segments during a period of 12 consecutive months will receive the benefits of Gold membership.

Point accrual is checked daily during a period of 12 consecutive months to examine entitlement for awarding Gold tier status. 


Point accrual is checked for a period 12 consecutive months prior to the date of renewal of Gold tier status.

Point accrual required for renewing or receiving Gold tier status: Basic points earned from EL AL or UP flights and from FLY CARD PREMIUM credit cards.


 

Special Benefit for FLY CARD PREMIUM Holders

Up to 20% of the points converted from FLY CARD PREMIUM credit cards will count towards receiving or renewing premium status and being listed for reduced price last-minute upgrades (limited to up to 300 points per year).



 

Lifetime Gold Membership

The Matmid Frequent Flyer Club awards lifelong Gold membership to members aged 67 and over, if during the previous 10 years they held Gold, Platinum or Top Platinum membership.

  •  Members of the EL AL Matmid Frequent Flyer Club (henceforth: the Club) will be entitled to receive Gold tier status for life, subject to these regulations (henceforth: “the benefit”). Members aged 67 or over who held Gold, Platinum or Top Platinum membership during the preceding 10 years (prior to receiving the benefit), as a result of club activity - purchasing EL AL tickets - subject to Club regulations.
    For example: A Matmid member who as a result of his flight activity has held Gold membership for 5 years, Platinum membership for 3 years and Top Platinum membership for 2 years will also be entitled to this benefit
  • Club members entitled to the benefit who today hold Platinum or Top Platinum status will not receive the Gold status for life benefit unless they are demoted to Gold status due to reduced activity and maintained premium status (Gold, Platinum or Top Platinum) for the preceding consecutive 10 years
  • The benefit is personal and nontransferable to others including  Matmid members and/or family members and/or friends
  • Club members who are entitled to the benefit will be granted the status in advance and the appropriate Gold card will be sent to their homes. Therefore, there is no need to contact the Telephone Service Center
  • If the Gold card does not reach your home within 30 days, you may contact the service center for premium members by email: prestige@elal.co.il. You will receive a reply within 48 hours
  • The benefit and the conditions for Gold status, including its accompanying benefits, are subject to Matmid Club regulations, which are updated from time to time
  • Where regulations are written in the masculine, this is for the sake of convenience. Regulations also include females, in singular and plural
  • In any case of a contradiction and/or discrepancy of any kind between the directives of these regulations and other published material about the benefit, including the press and/or broadcasts and/or the EL AL website and/or its sites, the directives of these regulations will prevail in all matters
  • EL AL retains the right to cancel or change parts of the benefit conditions and/or the regulations at its own exclusive discretion



 

Gold Members Earn More Points on EL AL and UP Flights

  • 25% additional Extra Points
  • EXECUTIVE Members and FLY CARD PREMIUM credit card holders earn 20% more Basic Points
  • FLY CARD credit card holders earn 10% more Extra Points


 

Upgrade to Premium Class

Assured Advance Upgrade to Business Class: In exchange for double points when purchasing a flight ticket in Economy Class to destinations in North America in B class and to all other destinations in Q class (instead of purchasing a ticket in Y, S or M class).

Reduced price last-minute upgrade: Upgrading to a premium class for a reduced, attractive price 48 hours before the flight and at the airport. The upgrade is given on a space available basis and is subject to Matmid Club regulations.

The list of priorities for a reduced price last-minute upgrade is as follows

  • Member’s tier
  • Type of flight ticket
  • EXECUTIVE Members (Excluding  Matmid - TL Members),and FLY CARD PREMIUM credit card holders
  • The number of basic points earned by the member over the preceding 12-month period from EL AL flights, UP flights and from FLY CARD PREMIUM credit card only
  • Seniority as club member

High Availability of Bonus Tickets

Gold members can utilize bonus tickets in non-designated bonus classes, for a higher number of points. The benefit is subject to availability in H class.

Baggage Benefits

Hand luggage: Economy Class passengers may carry aboard the plane one standard size piece of hand luggage + a portable computer, with a total inclusive weight not exceeding 12 kilos.

Baggage sent to the hold of the aircraft: The baggage allowance for Gold members flying Economy Class is 2 suitcases weighing up to 32 kilos each. In addition, FLY CARD and FLY CARD PREMIUM credit card holders receive a 50% discount for another piece of baggage (above the permitted allowance).

Assured Seating in Economy Class

Gold members have assured seating in Economy Class up to 48 hours before the flight, when purchasing a flight ticket in Y class (except during holiday seasons, on code share flights, on flights designated for groups and for reasons not within EL AL's control).

  • To receive Gold membership in the Matmid Club, you must accumulate 2,000 points or 1,500 points + 30 flight segments during a period of 12 consecutive months
  • To renew membership in the Matmid Club, you must accumulate 1,800 points or 1,500 points + 30 flight segments during a period of 12 consecutive months
  • Benefits for FLY CARD and FLY CARD PREMIUM credit card holders are for members with an Israeli bank account
  • Using tier-related benefits is subject to Matmid Club Regulations
