Holiday fun up in the air, underwater and in between – the southern city covers all bases
Eilat’s unique location and nature, lends itself to a great variety of tourist activities and adventures, both in and around town, in the sea, and even underwater. From theme parks, circus shows, extreme sports and four-wheel drive tours, you may need a few extra days of rest after your Eilat holiday.
Eilat offers a rich variety of water-related activities, both sports and leisure: kayaking, pedal-boat hiring, or a short cruise – all available in Eilat in affordable prices, providing hours of holiday entertainment.
If extreme sports is right up your alley, try catching a water skiing or scuba diving lesson, and finish off your day with a fun jet ski tour of the bay’s crystal waters.
Coral Beach Nature Reserve
The unique characteristic of the gorgeous Red Sea is its transparency. This clear calm sea reveals its magnificent coral and colorful fish with a 1200 meter long reef that is near the shore. Some of the numerous species of fish, coral and underwater life found in this reserve are unique to the Red Sea. Explore them by diving or snorkeling with equipment rentals on site.
Cruises in Eilat
For those who prefer their water entertainment a little more laid-back, why not hop on one of the many cruises on offer: two-hour family cruises, private boat tour, fancy yacht sail, or even a private romantic sail – all available all day long. Simply take your pick and hit the water.
But make no mistake – although Eilat’s water entertainment variety is so rich, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the city. Another highly popular outdoor activities are the four-wheel drive day trips, ranger and ATV tours.
Eilat has some of the most gorgeous beaches by the Red Sea, and the Marina is a beautiful beach with great restaurants and a bazaar in the evenings and lively atmosphere. Colored lights, amusement rides, street musicians stores and eateries can be found here.
This is a great sight to pause and relax in nature. Here you will find a lovely garden with waterfalls and wooden swings. The garden is located on a hill so it is nice and shady, providing a nice break from Eilat’s heat.
Ice Space complex
Those who prefer their entertainment indoors – Eilat has it all laid out for you. Starting with an endless list of fun bars and pubs, one of which is the not-to-be-missed Ice Space complex, where you could slide down ice slides, hang out with a penguin family or enjoy the magnificent ice sculptures. The complex caters for both adults and children.
Another unique experience is a visit to Nightmare, Eilat’s horror museum. But be warned – it’s not for the faint hearted! Cultural activities are also aplenty in this little town – be sure to book your ticket to “Evo”, a mixed acrobatics and 3D cinema show, hosted at the Max Entertainment Palace. “Wow”, another recommended show, is on at the Isrutel Theatre, combining dance and acrobatics.
The Red Sea Jazz Festival
One of Eilat’s cultural annual highlights is the Red Sea Jazz Festival, a large-scale international jazz festival, taking place over four days in August. The festival attracts jazz lovers from all over the world, to a feast of master classes, performances, and jam sessions.
One of Eilat’s most popular festivals is the annual celebration of Yemen culture, known as The Teimaniada. A contemporary feast of musicians of Yemenite descent, all gather for three days of music and culture.
Other cultural events include the Eilat Rembrandt Museum, headphones youth party and a local gallery, exhibiting works by local visual artists.
The dolphin Reef
Whatever it is you choose to do – make sure you don’t leave town before visiting the stunning dolphin reef and coral reef, as well as the underwater observatory, three of Eilat’s top seaside attractions.
