EL AL is updating its policy for Matmid members regarding payment in points for excess baggage.  

In addition, FLY CARD and FLY CARD PREMIUM credit card holders enjoy a 50% discount on payment (in money or points) for one additional piece of luggage beyond entitlement, until 6 hours before the flight.


Prices for Baggage Awards in points for a second suitcase stored in the hold of the plane, for Matmid members who are entitled and who are flying in Economy Class will be updated as of February 10, 2015:
  • To EL AL destinations in the Mediterranean Basin and Europe - 255 points instead of 200 points per direction
  • To EL AL destinations in North America, the Far East and South Africa - 300 points instead of 230 points per direction


  • The Baggage Award can be transferred to a passenger accompanying the Matmid (TL) member, valid only until December 9, 2014.
  • Top Platinum (TP) Matmid members will continue to issue a Baggage Award for family or friends flying in Economy Class.
  • Up to December 9, 2014, you must print out the Baggage Award and present it at the check- in counter.
  • As of December 10, 2014, the benefit details will be automatically updated when completing a flight reservation.
