Changes and Updates in the Number of Points Required for Advance Upgrade for Points

Changes and updates on advance upgrades will go into effect as of April 1st, 2019.

Matmid Club members are entitled to upgrade their tickets in advance according to the current price list and conditions for upgrades on tickets sold until March 31, 2019, regardless of the date of the flight.

Purchase of advance upgrades for points will be allowed through the Telephone Service Center or through travel agents
Advance upgrade for points entails immediate ticketing at the time of the reservation, of both the flight ticket and the upgrade. postponed to July 9, 2019 (Updated on June 30, 2019)). For example: If you purchased a flight ticket in Economy Class M class and wish to upgrade using points to Business Class R class, you should ticket immediately for M class in Economy Class and immediately afterwards for the Business Class R class fare
Advance upgrades from Premium to Business Class in all destinations will be from the Q and W registration classes only
Option of purchasing points for money: If you do not have sufficient points for purchasing the upgrade in advance, you can purchase additional points through the EL AL website for $10 per lot of 10 points
Ordering an upgrade through the Telephone Service Center entails a handling fee, as determined from time to time by EL AL for all customers
Conditions for advance upgrade for points including conditions for effecting a change, canceling the upgrade or not showing up for the flight will be specified when ordering the upgrade and before its purchase. postponed to July 9, 2019 (Updated on June 30, 2019)
Upgrades for double points and combined money and points upgrades are canceled

Changes and Updates for Last-Minute Reduced Price Upgrades

Changes and updates regarding last-minute reduced price upgrades will apply on flights departing as of April 1st, 2019, regardless of the date the reservation is made.

Matmid Club members are entitled to last-minute reduced-price advance upgrades according to today’s conditions, for flights departing until March 31, 2019.

Changes in the Minimum Requirement for Inclusion in the List for Last-Minute Upgrades

For Silver, Gold, Platinum and Top Platinum tier members, the minimum requirement for a last-minute reduced price ticket is 500 Basic Points earned during the 12 consecutive months preceding the flight date.

The classes in which it is possible to register for a last-minute reduced price upgrade:

Economy Class (registration classes Y,S,M,K) – upgrade to Premium Class
Economy Class (registration classes Y,S,M) – upgrade to Business Class
Premium Class (registration classes Q,W) – upgrade to Business Class
Business Class (registration classes C,I) – upgrade to First Class

*Last-Minute Reduced Price Upgrades from Premium to Business Class in all destinations will be from the Q and W registration classes only
