Changes and Updates to the Frequent Flyer Club Program

On April 1, 2019 we launched our new members club program. The changes that were planned to take effect on July 1, 19.2019 will be postponed and come into effect on 9.7.19 due to technological constraints, in order to provide you with an optimal user experience.
You can experience a trial version of the El Al app in stores.​ For these specific changes only, the existing program conditions will continue to apply until July 8, 2019, as detailed in the table.


​Following are the changes and updates that will take effect as of July 1, 2019:​

Changes and upd​ates for award tickets

Cash surcharge with points:
It is possible to pay part or all of the cash surcharge with points, not including port taxes
You can pay all the cash surcharge with points, not including port taxes.
For destinations in South Africa, North America and the Far East, payment with points can only be for part of the cash surcharge, add​​itional payment is required at ticketing.
Conditions for award tickets:
Award ticket conditions, including conditions for change, cancelation or no-show for the flight will be specified during the Award ticket reservation process and before purchase of the ticket. The current price list for cancelations and changes is canceled
Award ticket conditions, including conditions for change, cancelation or no-show for the flight, shall be in accordance with the existing table for changes and cancellations policy
Classic award tickets at reduced prices:
Members can purchase reduced price classic Award tickets. Award tickets that will be offered to Matmid members with a discounted number of points required for purchasing award tickets. 
This benefit does not exist
Award ticketing date:
 The Award ticket must be ticketed immediately while making the reservation on the website, through the Telephone Service Center or through travel agents
The Award ticket must be ticketed immediately when booking a ticket 
through the EL AL website,

Booking award tickets through the service center and via travel agents, ticketing is according to the time conditions based on the existing award conditions
Waiting list for the purchase of award ​tickets:
 Inclusion in the Award class waitlist for purchasing Award tickets will be possible only for Platinum and Top Platinum Matmid members. Inclusion on the waitlist for these members will also apply to those accompanying them and listed on the same reservation as well as for Platinum and Top Platinum Matmid members who redeemed or will redeem points from their accounts for another person. Entering the waitlist is possible only through the EL AL Telephone Service Center

Inclusion in the Award class waitlist for purchasing Award tickets will be possible
to all members of the Frequent flyer through the EL AL service center and travel agents
Showing booking option of award tickets:
The option for reserving Award tickets will not be offered to Matmid members who do not have the required number of points as appears on the

Changes and updates to the Cash & Points product

More options  to redeem points with CASH&POINTS​
It will be possible to redeem points for flight tickets on Code Share flights with the LY code and flights combining an EL AL flight segment with a foreign airline flight segment, as well as seating and baggage		This benefit does not exist
Minimum and Maximum points limit with CASH&POINTS:
It will be possible to redeem points using the Cash & Points product, with no minimum and maximum limits via the EL AL website
Applicable until March 31, 2019 is a maximum and minimum limit for the Cash & Points product
From April 1 to July 8, 2019, in order to redeem an amount greater than the maximum amount listed for the Cash & Points product in the website, you must contact the service center at Tel: 03-9771111 or *2250
combining an award ticket with CASH&POINTS:
It will be possible to issue one round trip ticket that combines one direction with a classic award ticket and a second direction with Cash&Points		This benefit does not exist

Changes and updates for advanced upgrades using point

Ticketing conditions for advanced upgrade
Advance upgrade with points entails immediate ticketing at the time of the reservation, of both the flight ticket and the upgrade
Advance upgrade for points entails 
ticketing in accordance with the conditions of the original registration class that was purchased
Conditions for advance upgrade 
Conditions for advance upgrade for points including conditions for effecting a change, canceling the upgrade or no-show for the flight will be specified when ordering the upgrade and before its purchase
Upgrade with points conditions, including conditions for change, cancelation or no-show for the flight, shall be in accordance with the existing table for changes and cancellations policy in the award Ticket​ Terms tab​

Changes and updates to baggage benefits for holders of FLY CARD and FLY CARD PREMIUM​

Baggage benefit for FLY CARD and FLY CARD PREMIUM holders
50% discount on luggage will not be given to FLY CARD and FLY CARD PREMIUM card holders when purchasing a LITE ticket
50% discount for FLY CARD credit card holders will not be given on the first suitcase and will apply only to the second suitcase (first suitcase must be fully paid for with money) when purchasing LITE tickets​
