What are the age definitions on EL AL flights?

Adult: A passenger who has reached his/her 12th birthday as of the date of commencement of travel.
If travelling alone, a person between ages 12-15 will be qualified as an Unaccompanied Minor (additional service fee will apply).

Child: A passenger who has reached his/her 2nd but not his/her 12th birthday as of the date of commencement of travel.
A child is entitled to a seat on the flight and to the same baggage allowance as an adult for the class in which he/she is seated.    
A child who is not yet 5 years old must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 16 and may not fly alone, under any circumstances.    

Infant: A passenger who has not reached his/her 2nd birthday as of the date of commencement of travel. The discount is granted subject to the date of the last flight segment as reflected on the ticket which should be prior to his/her 2nd birthday.

  • A passenger who i​​s holding a ticket with an infant's fare is not entitled to a seat on the flight. If you wish to purchase a seat for an infant, please contact the Service and Sales Center at Tel. 03-9771111.
  • An infant under 7 days old must have authorization for travel from the airline's physician.
  • Booking an infant bassinet:
    Most EL AL aircrafts are equipped with bassinets for infants up to 9 months. Please note that the number of seats with a special apparatus for the bassinet is limited and varies according to the aircraft model.
