Living out of a suitcase? Traveling for the first time? Either way, we all tend to pack too much or forget the most important items.

So just a minute before you start packing and fantasizing about your overseas shopping, make sure you have everything you need.

We have prepared a list that will make packing easier; simply check off each item and you can sleep quietly.


3 months before the flight​

Passports - issue/renew/verify validity
Vaccines - check if required, get vaccines at the appropriate time​​
Accommodations - book a hotel​
Transportation – from the airport to the hotel and back, rent a car
Travel Insurance
Certificates - Student ID/Disabled/Pensioner​
Ask for leave from work
Documentation - if only one parent travels with child(ren), arrange for an official document from the non-traveling parent confirming the trip​​

A week before the flight


Money - convert to local currency

Make copies of passports/insurance/hotel and reservations
Make sure your pet is taken care of while you are abroad
Ask a relative/friend/neighbor to check the house and water the plants
Ask a neighbor to collect your mail​​
Download movies your children can watch during the flight
Check with EL AL which items you can bring onto the aircraft: stroller, car seat, etc.​
Check with EL AL if you are entitled to a baby crib

Before leaving the house​

Confirm the flight is leaving on time (if the flight is delayed, check whether you still need to arrive at the original time)
Turn off automatic heating, water heating or air conditioning
Switch off or unplug electrical appliances
Make sure gas supply is turned off
Throw out the garbage
Close and lock the windows
Lock the doors​
