New York, NY – July 2, 2008 – EL AL, Israel’s national airline, is replacing nonstop flights from Miami with new and convenient
EL AL/American Airlines code share flights.  Beginning September 2, 2008, EL AL passengers departing Miami can travel on American Airlines to New York (JFK/Newark) or via a few European cities and connect to a nonstop EL AL flight to Israel.  The same options are available on return flights from Israel to Miami.

This new code share agreement allows maximum flexibility for EL AL passengers traveling from the Southeast region of the U.S.A. when choosing their flight dates and times as there are numerous American and nonstop EL AL flights which easily connect.  Other benefits include excellent airfares, automatic luggage transfer to the connecting flight, and the ability to earn EL AL Matmid frequent flyer points on American Airlines code share flights (in addition to the  EL AL flights).

 “The unprecedented increase in jet fuel prices is dramatically influencing the operational costs of our flights, especially the long haul routes.  This reality forces us to constantly examine the economics of our worldwide operations and, as a result, certain destinations will be substituted with flight options that will not compromise service to our passengers from North America,” said EL AL President Haim Romano. 

The existing 3 weekly nonstop flights between Miami and Tel Aviv continue through September 1, 2008.  EL AL Southeast Regional Manager Rusty Silverio states, “We are committed to accommodate EL AL passengers who have existing reservations from Miami and our office will continue to service the Southeast Region of the U.S.A.”
