39TH Anniversary Of Couple Who Met On EL AL

NEW YORK, NY – August 6, 2008 – EL AL, Israel’s national airline, celebrated “romance in the skies” this week with Jerusalem residents Judy and Stephen Gray on a flight from London to Tel Aviv.  The couple was celebrating the 39th anniversary of their original meeting in 1969 which took place on an EL AL flight from New York to Tel Aviv.

The Gray’s first met while traveling to Israel to attend a one year study program at Hebrew University in Jerusalem.  They were seated next to each other on the EL AL flight from JFK Airport and the two quickly struck up conversation (despite the fact that Judy was traveling with her then-boyfriend!).  “By the time the plane landed, we had fallen in love with one another,” exclaimed Mr. Gray. Judy is a native Philadelphian and Stephen is from Boston.  Before moving to Israel, they lived in Boston.

The Gray’s were welcomed to EL AL by the airline’s Station Manager at Heathrow Airport who presented them with a special memento.
